There is a chance that we will see small offices along the Innovation Path at Kennispark Twente in the near future. Currently, Saxion students from the civil engineering, architecture and technical business studies programs are conducting a feasibility study. An initial poll shows that there is indeed a need for "tiny offices.

The idea for offices along the Innovation Path came from the organization of the Flow of Innovation. We spoke with one of the initiators Wouter Stadhouders of civil engineering consultancy StadLandWater: "As everyone at Kennispark can see, there are still a lot of empty lots along the Innovation Path. Basically unused spaces that we can fill with flexible office spaces in the short term. With the feasibility study we want to take stock of whether there is indeed a need among companies to realize small office spaces there as well. Bringing together science, entrepreneurship and leisure is what this project is all about. We will know more in November, because that is when we expect to have the results of the feasibility study."

Relocatable offices

So the need for tiny offices already seems to be there. Indeed, concrete ideas have already been submitted: "In addition to realizing office spaces, we have already seen proposals for an AH to go, hairdresser, coffee shop, employment agency and even a mini testing laboratory. It may still sound a bit uncomfortable, but - especially for starters - these are important facilities that can contribute to more movement and bustle in the area." Stadhouders emphasizes that these are mainly moveable spaces: "The idea is that we can move these offices in an easy way. For example, if a company wants to set up on a lot along the Innovation Path, these tiny offices should be flexible enough to move them to another place in no time. So it will also mainly be small offices no larger than 25 square meters."
