The first "Tiny Practice," a tiny 50-square-meter general practice, was completed in the Dutch town of Emmen in February 2020. The #TinyPractice facilitates the digital general practitioner. While many GP practices in cities are growing into large medical centers, the shortage among GPs is actually crying out for a digital alternative: the digital GP practice 2.0 in a #TinyPractice.
Village Doctor 2.0
The general practice of the future operates almost entirely digitally. This will require fewer assistants and less real estate. Patients can schedule appointments themselves through a portal, make video calls to the GP and ask questions online. This facilitates remote working for the GP. And at the local care center, the TinyPractice, patients can stop by for a consultation.
The TinyPractice has it all!
EcoCabins' prefabricated and turnkey delivered family doctor's office (made of 100% wood) is the perfect addition for the digital "village doctor 2.0. The TinyPractice has everything the modern GP needs. A covered outdoor area, a waiting room with public toilet, a storage room with lab function, a toilet for the caregivers, an examination room including kitchenette for the assistant and finally the doctor's room, including examination light, kitchenette and office for the GP or caregiver.
The TinyPractice was commissioned and developed in close consultation with medical specialists. The GP station is placed in the village and can be used by various health care providers. After some time, does the village no longer need a GP clinic? Then the TinyPractice can easily be relocated elsewhere.

From December 12 to 16, 2019, the #TinyVilla was at the Masters of LXRY at the RAI in Amsterdam, for which we received the award for most sustainable booth.
Starting in March 2020, the #TinyVilla will be rented through Basecamp IJmuiden.
Solution to the GP shortage?
Is the "village doctor 2.0" the solution to the region's GP shortage? No, it is not the solution to the GP shortage, but it is one of the ways to make struggling practices attractive again to young new GPs or as a temporary solution. The combination of digital working, patient empowerment and local Tiny Practices are the prelude to a digital GP 2.0, or the GP of the future.
